Who operates this service

Topy operates this directory. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected].

Information we process

• Request and security data: IP address, request time, browser or device information, requested paths, approximate country supplied by the network edge, and security events used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and diagnose failures. The access-limit store receives keyed pseudonymous hashes—not raw IP addresses—of network, visitor, account, and device signals plus distinct channel identifiers and bounded counters.
• Preferences and device storage: language and theme choices in cookies or local storage. Pseudonymous visitor and security cookies help enforce browsing and playback limits. Login and OAuth cookies maintain Topy account sessions.
• Account activity: when you sign in, Topy receives an account identifier, email address, display name, role, and entitlement status from the Topy account service. Favorites, reports, and permitted administrative actions may be associated with that account. After a channel plays stably, the account service also keeps a channel-level viewing summary—channel identifier and name, first and last view, start count, and approximate duration—for account support and product administration. Stream URLs and audio or video content are not included in this summary.
• Community activity: star ratings, reviews, helpful votes, channel-chat messages, reports, and moderation records are associated with your account. Reviews and chat display your profile name publicly; if it is unavailable, they display your email address, then a masked network address and approximate country. A channel room receives short playback-presence heartbeats while you are actively watching so it can show an approximate viewer count; presence expires automatically after you leave or stop playback.
• Smart Captions: only while you enable the feature, short audio clips or source-caption text may be sent through Topy to Cloudflare Workers AI for transcription or translation. The clips and text are processed in memory and are not retained as recordings. Pseudonymous daily usage counters are retained for up to 14 days to enforce the free limit.
• Analytics: Cloudflare Web Analytics and ordinary server logs help us understand aggregate traffic, performance, and errors.

Direct playback and third parties

Most playback is direct. When you choose a channel, your browser requests the stream from the third party that publishes its address. That provider can receive your IP address, browser information, referrer behavior permitted by the browser, and other network data under its own policy. Topy does not control those providers. Channel logos and program-guide links can also load from third-party domains.

Advertising and Google

If advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may place or read cookies, use web beacons, receive IP addresses, or use other identifiers to provide, measure, and protect ads. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where required for visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Topy will use a Google-certified consent management platform before requesting personalized advertising consent. Advertising choices do not determine organic channel inclusion or ranking.

How we use and share information

We use information to provide requested features, secure the service, remember choices, improve the directory, respond to reports, comply with law, and—when consent or another lawful basis allows—measure or fund the service with advertising. Information may be processed by infrastructure and security providers such as Cloudflare, by the Topy account service, by Google when its advertising services are enabled, by the stream provider you choose to contact, or by authorities when legally required. We do not sell personal information.

Retention and security

Pseudonymous access-limit records are automatically deleted within three days of the most recent active daily period.

Operational logs and account-linked activity are retained only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, security, dispute handling, backup, or legal duties. Signed-in channel viewing summaries are automatically removed after 90 days without a new view. Channel chat keeps at most the latest 100 messages for up to 24 hours; ratings and reviews remain until removed by the author or moderation, while reports and moderation records may be retained longer for safety and accountability. Browser preferences remain until they expire or you clear them. Deleted channels lose their associated verification image and community data. We use access controls, signed cookies, encryption in transit, rate limits, and restricted administrative tools, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can use the site without an account within public limits, clear cookies and local storage in your browser, turn Smart Captions off, avoid opening a stream, change advertising consent through the consent interface when available, and contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of account-linked information where applicable. We may need to verify a request and may retain records required for security or law.

Children, transfers, and updates

Topy is a general-audience directory and is not designed for children under 13. Some listed channels may offer family programming, but accounts and personalized advertising are not intended for children. Service providers may process information outside your province or country under applicable safeguards. Material changes to this notice will be posted here with a revised date.
